Re: TT’s Old Iron Brewery RF Smoker build

Media blasting before you start is a great idea in my opinion. Not many do it because of cost and inconvenience but it will make the rest of your build go so much smoother since you won’t be fighting the old coats of paint. Nice start.... I agree. Really a luxury to work with clean material right o...

Re: Babybacks and Mac & Cheese

Happy to 'tires! We based it on the following recipe, and then doctored it up with some cooked bacon that was chopped up in a food processor(about a cup). Then, put it in a disposable aluminum pan and smoked it, rather than bake in the oven. Took about an hour. It is very good, and will definitely b...

Babybacks and Mac & Cheese

For what may be the last cook before winter sets in, we stoked up the 80 gallon RF, and did dry rubbed babybacks, and smoked mac & cheese. It didn't suck! Really love cooking on a stick burner. The ribs were nothing revolutionary, just standard dry rubbed ribs, using the 3-2-1 method at an average o...

Re: Combo welding cart/table

The space savings by going to an inverter based machine(s) was really helpful. This cart takes up a footprint that is only slightly larger than that of my former 25 year old transformer style 250A MIG machine. As it turned out, my local welding/fab shop was looking for that very machine, so we worke...

My cart with Miller 211 and plasma cutter.
Nice setup! I like the paint/powder as well, looks great. Once I get the add ons, hooks, hangers figured out, I'd like to have everything but the tabletop powder coated. Need to use it a while, in case I need to change anything.

Re: Combo welding cart/table

Nice, neat and compact. I admire someone who can efficiently work on a small table. I require a huge table to keep my OCD under control....lol. FYI, made up a heavy cord for my machines and used a 30 amp extension cord for rv trailers. Till you figure in the cost of the ends on a cable, it was pret...

Re: Combo welding cart/table

Thanks guys. Made good use of leftovers. The diamond plate was leftover from the wall. Angle iron shelf frames, expanded metal, and 1/4" plate were from the smoker build. Just had to buy the square tube and castors. While I'd love to have a dead flat top with fixturing holes, they're just too expens...

Combo welding cart/table

After finishing my compressor tank RF smoker, I ended up building a cart to serve as both a welder cart and welding table. Space is tight in my home shop, and just don't have the room for a welding table and a cart for my welders. So, this rig holds my MIG and TIG machines, along with the plasma cut...

Re: 80 Gallon Compressor Build

Thanks again, everyone. Going to put this thread to bed, with one last Q view. Did a brisket, and thanks to beginner's luck, and a good piece of meat....it was incredibly good! Probably one of the best briskets we've eaten. While it was small at 10 pounds, it came from a local farm, required zero tr...

Re: 80 Gallon Compressor Build

Thanks T. The end to end temps weren't bad. The firebox end is running about 10 degrees hotter. Glad I put in at least a small shadow plate, or it may have run even hotter. Hitting the sack, as its going to be an early wakeup to start tomorrows brisket. Given the temps I was seeing, I think I'll put...

Re: 80 Gallon Compressor Build

And finally........Q view! The rib cook went really well. Was initially going to do brisket, but decided to cover more area with 6 racks of baby backs, to look for hot spots, etc.. Pretty consistent, but the upper rack was definitely a bit hotter than the lower. Really fun to cook with a stick burne...

Re: 80 Gallon Compressor Build

Looks great. I've had gun parts done with create, but never considered it for a smoker... sounds expensive It would have been cost prohibitive, had I not gotten a deal from my friends that own the shop. Also, on the next build, I will make the CC+FB in one assembly, and the frame/cart another, and ...
