I think around the firebox exceeds 300F. You may consider installing a piece of aluminum diamond plate around that area

I agree with DT. I recently bought a second bottle because you just can't run out at a good time.

Re: First Build

If there are no plans available then call Frank and he will make plans based on what you want. The other option is use the calculator on this site and draw up your own plans. Run your numbers pass the guy's on the forum before you start cutting.

In the 70s here this week and less than two hours from Disneyland if Arizona isn't for you. When we have a snowstorm it's usually gone before you wake up.

Welcome. For a first time builder and someone who is not a welder by trade you seem to have done very well. Is it large enough to feed the entire fire house? I think it is. Looks great .

I think you will be fine welding it. The insulation will burn a bit right where the arc hits, but won't hurt anything and won't ever be seen.

Food looks great... I still prefer the steak, but I had a smoked chop a few weeks ago that was amazing.

Welcome, you may not need to insulate your smoker. Explain exactly what you have and what you want it to do. Many guys here are very good at this stuff

Re: What’s happened to the painting section?

I think everyone gave up on finding new paint. I think many of us would like to see new options for high temp paint that does not need to be heated to be cured tho

Not a bad looking pit. I think the majority of guys don't know about the calculator and are forced to wing it. I'll follow along to see how it comes out
