Re: Mini GF Experience

Looks amazing, I have the same wheels for mine, although I'm still a long ways from completion. I only get a couple hours a month to work on it and I'm slow. You did a great job, hope mine looks half that good when I'm done

Re: Gravity Feed #5

its the grate that the charcoal sits on. If i was to build another one i would add about a 1/16 of an inch to the angle iron that it sits on, It needs just a little wiggle room to make a touch easier to pull out. Its a little tight on mine, You could "polish" the grate a bit with your angle grinder...

Great looking build.i trust Pete will steer you in the right direction. Many great builds never function properly because sizes are not correct.

Re: Firebox wear???

I think the 1/2 inch Its made of will last many years. Making it out of cast iron or even just 3/4 indy may add some years, but at some point you gotta just say good enough.

I trust the calculator. If you want a shorter stack then get a larger diameter pipe.

Ouch....safety glasses are your friend tho they won’t save the rest of your face.
I usually wear my electronic welding hood in grind mode. I admit I sometimes make the quick cuts without a full face shield even tho i know better.

Re: Cutting straight with angle grinder

I think the main thing is practice. I haven't got enough practice to be good at it either. I have seen tools that hold a 4" grinder to use as a chop saw although kinda neat they only help for small cuts and those are not the difficult ones. Just be safe a broken wheel is scary. I can vouch for the ...

Welcome sounds like you have the metal working/fabrication part covered. Use the calculator on this site and then you know the pit will work. What you planning to build first? Re: Tow Behind Charcoal Grill

It's a great idea and easier fo build than a smoker because the numbers are not as critical. Make sure you are not dropping embers all the way home while towing it. Just decide on a size make sure vents and grill are adjustable and chop for it. If you literally want plans then I'm sure Frank could d...

I guess with the right gearing it may work, but I would look elsewhere personally. A wiper motor moves a 1 pound wiper with no load 400 lbs may just be too much. I've never built a rotisserie, but just my thoughts.

Re: Mack Build

I think 1/4 inch is adequate, but the only reason to not use thicker is cost, weight and difficulty in working with the heavy steel. If none of those are an issue go as big as you wish....
You could have the world's first 3/4 inch mack. Gonna need a triple axle trailer.
