Re: Canadian 500 gallon offset build

That's a great fitup, firebox to cook chamber!!! How did you do that? Impressive work! Well, the hole in the cook chamber starts out as a circle below centre line… then you push them together, keep leveling and straightening while trimming away where it touches. You end up with an odd shaped hole. ...

Canadian 500 gallon offset build

Hey guys, thought I’d share a new build we kicked
Off. Nice patina 500 gallon with an insulated firebox. Modified ratchet binders sure work nice for fitting doors!

More updates to follow…

Re: Large Smoker Math

Yeah, thats what i figured. So I am going to use 250's. Next question is how do I figure oriface between FB/CC on an 'undersized' firebox. Not sure weather to use the original number or to use a small number that makes sense for the smaller firebox. I feel like the small number is the right one... T...

Large Smoker Math

Hey Guys, I've built several smaller smokers (around 120 gallon) some standard and some reverse. I'm now building some bigger stuff. Doing a 500 and 1000 gallon. When I do the math for the 1000 gallon the firebox comes out insanely large with feldons. My gut tells me its too big. I know a lot of guy...

Re: High temp paint

I personally heat up areas with a large propane torch and finish the linseed oil. If its needs it again in a few years, its super easy to 'touch up'

Re: Canadian RF smoker 24x54 3/8

That's a nice rig! How much space between grills? I only ask because I was putting in grill racks today. I’ll get you an exact measurement but like 10 maybe 11 inches No disrespect, because that is a really nice build - but I think you may have been doing metric too long. :D Are we talking t...

Just an update from the build. Added a shelf on the back and some other finishing touches. New fenders and a custom axle with custom hubs so we can run some
Chevy wheels! Haha thanks all. Runs great! Now

Just some back ribs.

Did some ribs on the weekend. They turned out well. Used Weber KC rub, and Guy Fieri sweet mesquite sauce. Cooked at 250 using the 3-2-1 method. Reverse flow stick burner running ash with a little bit of cherry. Happy with the results. About 55lbs of ribs (18 racks).

Re: Canadian RF smoker 24x54 3/8

As promised here is a few pictures of the hog cook. We got a 60 and 70 lb pig. Turned out well. Didn’t put too much on them, bit of rub on the inside and a simple injection. Also did two briskets.

Re: Canadian RF smoker 24x54 3/8

Well the bbq isn’t complete yet. Still needs fenders and some other accessories. However it is ready to cook and I’ve met my deadline. This weekend I’ll be doing two 50lb hogs (dressed) and two briskets in two green eggs. I completed my ‘test run’ and was amazed at how well it ran. I used ash splits...
