I was figuring it would help hold heat longer in cooking chamber. I had 2 in firebox then pulled them out and it seems to work better without them there.

Kiln brick on reverse flow plate

I have acquired som kiln shelf’s . 2 shelf’s make a 28 inch octagon. I have 4. Will putting them on the reverse flow plate help hold temperature. Or should I use it as a pizza stone on pit.

Just my opinion, but I would consider making the entire firebox out of plate and make it all square and the place your cylinder on top for the warmer. So if you are doing insulated, build a square firebox to the specs needed and then an outer box to hold the insulation and inner box. The round FB i...

You can insulate all sides without a problem. I did all 6 sides of mine included a double walled/insulated door. Just something to consider... your tank is most likely fairly thin and can be the weak point in a smoker. The heat cycles and ash abuse the firebox a bunch. Many take this into considera...

RF insulated cylinder FB with warmer questions

That is kind of what I was thinking but my FB is a cylinder. I was planning on making a square box around the cylinder so in that case would you still leave the bottom uninsulated?
