Re: Planning to build a gravity feed

Thanks for the replies fellows! the cc has a slope like mentioned in the plans, just have to draw the drain valve in..... Creating an acces lid to the C channel (made of sheet metal 6mm (1/4 inch) is a pretty good idea!!! thanks for that! 2 issues : instead of expanded metal ,I want to cut out a gra...

Re: Planning to build a gravity feed

as pics say more....The big benefit from using a autocad program like fusion360 or similar is that conversion from imperial to metric gives you a view of the pieces changing etc. So you can adapt where necessary . Build the frame up from tubing 60/60/2 cooking chamber sheet metal 2mm chute and ash b...

Re: Planning to build a gravity feed

Thanks for the info guys!!!! So, i decided to give the double pan a go. I have a metal workshop so handling that bigger stuff isn't an issue. Bought the plans and this weekend I will make my own technical drawing in metric units.

Planning to build a gravity feed

Hi Guys, After some reverse, offset and other bbq builds , I decided that I want to build a gravity feed smoker. Since there is not a lot (I can't find it anyway) info , and specs describing the relation between the firebox, the chute and the volume off the cc. My thoughts went to buying some off Fr...

Re: santa maria trailer

Realy appreciate your input guys! Made up my mind and decided to stay with the 0.250 sheet metal, only heat resistant bricks on the floor, insulation all around (2 inch thick), and extra air vents on each side( not yet on the drawing) . Figuring out to coat the .25 sheet metal couple of times with h...

Re: santa maria trailer

Thanks dirtytire, mayby I sgould leave the bricks on thebside walls to have less weight. If I do that ,I´m more able to make some air vents on the side off the trailer. All the gear( shovel, charcoal etc) will be transported by car/truck/bus....another option is to make the sheet metal from the actu...

Re: second build : RF with insulated firebox

The idea behind the isolated warming box is to be able to use this setup as a vertical (insulated smoker). Just have to make some slider to close the opening between fb and cc in that case. Here in Belgium we have lots of types of weather and the ability to smoke reverse for low and slow and vertica...

Re: second build : RF with insulated firebox

Yep you've got a good point Dirty Tires...but.....the 3mm (0.125) sheets are here just to grab in my workshop (little bit a luxury situation) ....so a 4 inch pipe from fb to WC should be fine? damper on top of it etc... Is building an insulated warming chamber overkill or should I stick to 1/4 inch ...

Re: second build : RF with insulated firebox

Thanks guys....now I'm pretty convinced about adding a warming box. My FB will be made out off an 1/4 inner shell and 1/8 sheet outer shell (insulated). Should I make the Warming box insulated as well? or Just make a separated box out off the 1/4 sheet metal. Is there a "guideline" in how big the op...

Re: second build : RF with insulated firebox

So....that was a while :-) Long story short....Covid was a bit of a pain here....been sick for 4 months and revalidating slow. But for now, it's going better everyday so I decided to start the build now. The guy I'm building this one for , asked me about a warming chamber. Can you use it as a "secon...
