Re: Need help with temp control. Please !

noXcuse check out the Eli thread in the RF department on here to see how I "ripped" that 3" roxul. It works pretty easy. I got a used up band saw blade from one of the local steel shops that they were going to throw out. A 4 foot hunk of that makes a great "insulation saw" :D

Re: Earl

Just play with the calculator - you can't hurt it. Start by entering your CC dimensions and guess at the rest. It will tell you what direction to change to so that you come up with the correct combination of numbers. :D

Re: First RF build

I think I used that same trailer for Egor. I built the entire rig and left the spring shackles until last so I could position the axle. I put the rig down on the floor with a 2 X 4 across underneath the frame where I thought the axle should be and a bathroom scale under the ball socket at the tongue...

Earl made a real handy sized cooker for a buddy of mine - but yours would be even better!
Take a look at his thread for an idea what to do with that tank. I think those dimensions would make a better small CC than FB anyway. imho :D

Re: Looking for creative ideas

Love the theme builds. :kewl: You could run a steel rod down the center hole of several cyclinders - like stringing pearls - but space them out about the same gap between as they are long. Bend both ends of the rod and weld it to the door to form a very interesting handle. Any leftover sylinders cou...

Re: Reverse flow questions...

I'm at 2200 feet altitude and I always use a 1" gate valve for air inlet on the verticals in addition to a "Start up" gate at about 8 sq. inches to get things going. For normal cooking on an RF or end-fed you'll want even more so plan on it. Your altitude air density can be completely eliminated by ...

Re: Gravity Feed lights up this week....guru possibly?

Have you read the 'Night Light" thread I did on Egor?
That's still the best way I know of to eliminate the need for a Guru.
I'm not sure how lucky I got but I suspect ANY cooker that's well sealed could do that.
fwiw :D

Re: Gravity Feed lights up this week....guru possibly?

Puff from what I've seen here on the forum I have to say 2 things: 1) Guru's are cool, most of the time the users seem to enjoy them for a few months (burns) and then they get lazy and don't use them anymore. It's because they discover that once they get onto how each cooker works, they realize they...

Re: Planning a Reverse Flow

Grab some 5/8" all-thread and a couple 5/8" nuts. Try welding the nuts (with the rod already threaded through them) to a panel and a couple tabs to the rod that are welded to another panel then when you swing the 2 panels the nuts actually travel through the thread slightly over the 90 degree travel...

I don't know of any problem with the seam being in the door other than aesthetics but some of the fellows here that have cut more tanks than me might think otherwise. :D

Re: Cutting a Compressor tank

I wouldn't trust the seam when a straightedge will do.
I like the firer ope stuck to the door so it will swing out of the way when I'm putting in/out grates and such. Just seems safer for the seal.
