Self Sustaining PID Controller

Here is the PID I made for the Twins. I will test it completely next weekend.
12 volt ATV Battery, 1.5 watt 12 volt solar charger, 32 CFM fan and a threaded 8" therm o couple sensor, all with NO extension chords.
I ran the fan non stop for 12 hours without the solar charger and still had 12.6 volts on the battery.
I also added an auxiliary port for charging my phone.
Butts next weekend will be the true test.

That's cool, where did you source the case from? You use the Rasberry pi components? After looking it appears you didn't, who's PID did you use?

I dont mind at all. A total of $106.17 - No extension chords, priceless.

DunnSmoke, you have any updates on how your PID is working for you on your smoker, holding temps etc. I am trying to get an idea to build one or put one together to use on a mini gravity fed smoker once the plans get out and I build it. Thanks

I made one change. I went from a 4AH baatery to a 9AH battery and installed an auxiliary plug.
We have used them both numerous times without incident. Our 1st KCBS was 3rd in pork. Our 2nd competition was 4th in chicken, 3rd in ribss, 1st in pork and 1st in brisket. Our 1st Grand Champion of the year. In a nutshell, I wish I had made them sooner.
I will have one on every pit from here on.

What was the Ah rating of the battery? I may swap my 240v pid for a 12v and go this direction.
