Adding "normal"BBQ valve to Bayou Classic regulator/burner

I have a custom built cabinet smoker with a Bayou Classic burner and regulator that I would like to add a control valve on the front of the smoker instead of just at the propane tank. Basically, this is what I have:


And I would like to add something like this on the smoker for more fine tuned temp control and and OFF position.


Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I might find what I need? Thanks!

I have the same regulator setup and my only thought would be another needle valve. You could probably adapt that knob to it if that's what you want to see.

That is an idea. I was kind of hoping to be able to utilize the stop points on the grill valve so I could turn all the way to low without the risk of hitting OFF without pushing the knob down.

one thing to keep in mind when working with gas is the color of the regulator. If it is Red like the one in the pic then it is a High Pressure Regulator which means 0-30 PSI. that doesn't sound like a lot of pressure but in Gas..... IT IS!!!
Low pressure gas is always less than 1/2PSI. this is what your house system runs on.
The thing to pay attention to when ordering any kind of after market or modification parts for any gas burning appliance is the inlet pressure rating. some parts are only rated for less than 1/2PSI. if you use one of these by mistake then it could rupture and cause a very dangerous situation.....

That's good stuff to know, I never imagined the color of that would be an indicator of anything other than a marketing eye catcher by the manufacturer ....unlike a pressure washer tip.

lol, yep.... Sometimes it means important stuff hahaha!
In the case of fish fryers, they are almost all high pressure burners. I have seen some that are not red that are still high pressure burners. it will say on the regulator for sure tho.
