You can always use the extra computer power cords piled up in closet instead of Her stuff. .. less trouble down the road .....

Pid control from eBay with a solid state relay costs around 18 bucks , fan salvaged from dead comp. only problem is comp fan is 24 volts. Low voltage transformer 12$ for said fan electric conduit box ten bucks. Flex hose to cooker from control ¿???
Extension cord. Not from wife's stuff!! Five bucks
All in all. One quarter the cost of a guru if that much

I'm right there with you bigbook, the homemade route my not be for everyone since they lack some of the bells and whistles that some of the nice ones out there offer, but if you can get by with basic, dependable and accurate temperature control they are hard to beat.

OK.So I'm putting a parts list together.
Where did you say we could acquire a 120v power cord,LOL.
And how did you pressurize the box?

Really all "pressurized box" amounts to is a sealed box that has two openings, one is attached to the inlet side of blower and the other attached to the tube that goes to the air inlet valve on smoker. When the blower comes on it draws air into the box and is discharged out the path of least resistance which happens to be the tube. If you look at some of the previously post pics you'll see a round hole on the bottom of box, if you look closely you'll see the squirrel cage of the blower.

It's a 75x75x30mm 12volt DC brushless fan I paid less than $4.00 for if you do a search you'll have more places to buy than you need. Thanks for the compliment I've been very pleased with how the controller has worked.

Weldun - Wondering how the connections are holding up that you added thru the side walls? Also, might you have a link to the controller you purchased? Thanks, Cole

The connections have held up great as far as a link for the controller, I looked and where I purchased from no longer has them. However there are many other places that have them if you search " willhi wd7016d" you should find plenty of options, they are available in 12,110 or 220 volt. I used the 110 volt version. Hope this helps
