pellet hopper question

Post by breavis » January 8th, 2021, 7:33 pm

A friend has asked me about building a pellet grill and while I usually build grills/smokers out of paint barrels, oil drums, etc I'm looking into a making a pellet grill out of a 55 gallon drum, nothing too big. My question is where can you find a hopper for a DIY project? Is there anything I specifically need to look at as far as how much heat, auger size, etc? Thanks!!

I looked into this a few years back. Scrapped the idea because I couldn’t find a hopper attachment at a reasonable price. Good luck with your search and let us know what you find.

Looks like it's better to buy a already made pellet smoker. Saw one at Walmart for the price of a hopper itself. May give it a try
