Shelf stops for cabinet

Hi all ! I am currently building a cabinet pellet smoker does any body have some pics of the shelf rack stops so you can pull the rack out to load and tend your BBQ and be able to remove them easily also . Thanks CT

I don't have a shelf stop but use anti-tip brackets if that helps.

A lot of guys weld a small piece of angle at the top/front of the guide rail to make a "c" to prevent tipping. Some use channel but I find that comes in odd sizes.

I'm planning to weld a short piece of 3/8 rod to the back crossmember of my rack that will stick out the side and catch under my guide rails.

No "stop" is planned at this time.

Most guys don't use a stop. [FLUSHED FACE] Then whata ya gonna do when your meat touches the ground???[FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]. I always use stops. I don't think I have any pics but feel free to message me and I will try to help.

I just use anti tipping pieces of angle iron. I'll get you a good picture if you want.

That's what I do now with my cabinet, sometimes I pull it all the way out to do some stuff.

Thanks all of you guys for the replies Rodcrafter I would like some pics if you can . i will need to remove the racks from time to time I can't help but think about having put your heart and soul into smoking a bunch of expensive meat for many hours and " and many Beers " only to pull it out on the ground so i need to make some stops of some sort . Yep, a bit of bush pepper never hurt anyone, lol.

I just add a tab over the last 3 or 4 inches of my rack guides using 1/4''x1'' flat bar, I keep them as close to my grates as I can so that it doesn't tilt down when it's extended but not too tight so it doesn't want to slide. I don't build any type of stops but it wouldn't take much to add one. I've had both racks loaded with Butts and the slid all the way out without tipping down.

That is a really dependable method. Just make sure your weld is good,as that will have a force much greater than the actual weight considering the fulcrum vs the weight and length of the lever or in this case the depth of the rack.

Thanks for the pics Rodcrafter but what do you use to keep your racks from coming out I was thinking the same as you did on the slides what did you do for stops ?Thanks again for the picsCT

I guess you will have to trust me, but when you have a hundred bucks and 10 hour riding on what's on the rack you won't pull it out too far.

It would be really a P.I.T.A. to use real stops, because either they will be too hot to remove or you would have to make the rack very un level to get them out, neither is a good idea.
