Thanks S1!
Thanks Rick! And I am going to build a big ol chute lol.
Little update on how good it works. I built a door today and picked up a digital control, got it installed also. put a rope gasket on the door. Put a 5" vent out the side.
It only took less than 10 minutes to get from 80 to 225 with no outer skin on and no insulation except the bottom panel. Trying to see if I can reach 325 and how quick.

I bet that 5 inch stack looks cool but don't forget - stack vacuum is your enemy on a pellet drive ... :)

Only reason I choose 5" is that is what fast Eddie uses. Or so I remember.....
I was not able to obtain 325 in a reasonable time although the temp was still climbing. I have a plan tho lol. More tomorrow!

Bill (team member from Pueblo) and I had breakfast at the Pueblo airport last Friday morning while I was out there since the local military flies C130's out of there to practice - I've seen one of those take off once using JATO and DANG! those things could cram 5 weekends worth of BBQ into about 10 seconds...

Thanks Frank and Rick - Sometimes my sense of humor get a will of it's own.

Seriously though - Frank - I've never seen a Pellet Pooper in operation. I have two questions, does the fire normally get that big? and would it be easier to pre load the cup with pellets and get them lit before starting the auger?

Forgive me, I am a pellet No0b.

The nice thing about pellet smokers is the ability to set it and forget it. It would be fine to pre load the fire pot you want. The fire does get that big on bigger units and at the beginning of the burn.
I am not making temp quick enough with the current set up so I am going to put a different great motor on with higher rpm's than the current one. It is 2 now, i'm shooting for 4.

ok just a question, if the fan is always running that high does it blow ash all up into the cooking chamber and onto the food?

There is some sawdust that blows out of the firepot but it's apparently heavy enough to stay in the bottom because I've never seen any of it except in the bottom of the cooker... :)

Update....
I have finished this build I just need to do some paint repairs. Kinda scratched it a bit lol
Dink, it works awesome! I plugged off the auger hole later in the video and it repaired the ash issue. now after smoking on it 3 times for better than 14 hours each time I only have less than a pint glass of ash. burns really great! in the video I must point out the firepot baffle is not installed. that helps to force the ash down if it is blown out of the firepot.
