OK, one last post, and then the next time it should be painted and burning in! Hope to have Q view on Labor Day weekend. Just welded a couple lift eyes on the top of the CC, and then turned and knurled a pair of knobs that thread into the FB dampers. They protrude out the back side far enough to act as a stop to keep them from sliding out the end of the rails. That should be about it. Time for paint!

Nice. Always good to add a little personal bling to the build. Just to make it yours. :kewl:

Thanks! Dropped it off at my buddies shop on Friday for paint. Once they've done their thing, a couple more test burns.........then Q view! In the meantime, hoping for a decent evening for a fire in the backyard fire pit, and give the cooking grates a good burn off.

Thanks! Still waiting on paint. We've had non stop rain, and high humidity. My friend doing the paint, would like for the RH to drop a bit before he shoots it.

Finally got the call I've been waiting for......paint is done and ready for pickup! Will go get it tomorrow afternoon, and do a few test burns this week. Should have some Q view this weekend!

Made it home safe and sound. My friends at Advanced Powder Coating did an awesome job on the Ceracote. Put it all back together this evening. Let the test burns begin!

Looks great. I've had gun parts done with create, but never considered it for a smoker... sounds expensive

It would have been cost prohibitive, had I not gotten a deal from my friends that own the shop. Also, on the next build, I will make the CC+FB in one assembly, and the frame/cart another, and bolt them together. That way the hot parts can get the hi temp coatings, and the frame can simply be powder coated or painted. With mine welded together, had to go with the Ceracote on the whole works. Only exceptions being the bolt on front shelf, and the drop in grate in the bottom of the stand. They got powder coated. Break in burn #1 tomorrow evening!

And finally........Q view! The rib cook went really well. Was initially going to do brisket, but decided to cover more area with 6 racks of baby backs, to look for hot spots, etc.. Pretty consistent, but the upper rack was definitely a bit hotter than the lower. Really fun to cook with a stick burner! Thanks to Frank, and everyone who provided advise and encouragement! Brisket tomorrow.

Awesome!! The top rack will be hotter than the bottom rack but you can usually get the end to end temps pretty close.

Thanks T. The end to end temps weren't bad. The firebox end is running about 10 degrees hotter. Glad I put in at least a small shadow plate, or it may have run even hotter. Hitting the sack, as its going to be an early wakeup to start tomorrows brisket. Given the temps I was seeing, I think I'll put the point end towards the firebox.
