Nah, you have got to see your face in it, keep going...

Just kidding =)) Looks good to me.

I would recommend building a fire basket and ash pan. It helps to keep your coal bed in one spot which makes it easier to get your next log going. I don’t have any pictures of mine but I like the way RC built his and I plan on building mine like it one day. Here’s a picture of RC’s basket.ImageImage

I'd burn in it first to see how it does....no sense changing things if they work.

It's more than just smoke.....how well it holds temps, are temps fairly even across the cc, will it get hot enough, will it burn low enough, etc.

Run a few test burns at different heat levels and get to know what the smoker does.

Just what they all say here.....start with a small fire and let it heat up slowly. Control the fire with the intake vents as much as you can and use a stack damper if you need more control.

Someone also said to build a bon fire next to your smoker so you can satisfy your need for seeing a big fire... =))

No quick fix. Till you cut a second hole to add a second chiminey, you are time ahead to do it right and just replace itwith one of the correct size. Too small can’t be fixed but a damper on one that is oversized can be used to choke it off.
