Vertical or horizontal

Just picked up a 12*32 compressor tank to build a smoker for the boys at work. Would it be better to go with a vertical or horizontal build. Will be using an insulated firebox

12" diameter and 32" long? That is not much to start with for cooking space either way. I would go horizontal if that is the material I had.

Agree with towtruck that your tank is pretty small. You are only going to get 1 shelf that is roughly 11” x 24” which does not give you a whole lot of space.

That may be just what you want but keep in mind a bigger tank is roughly the same amount of work and money to build. One mistake we see pretty often is folks build too small a pit and then quickly outgrow it. Whatever you decide, we are here to help.

If I find a bit of 24" pile then ill-use this as the firebox

I've finishedMy large gravity feed so this is just to do ribs and fatties for the boys at work
