Kiln brick on reverse flow plate

Post by JAK SE MAS » October 25th, 2020, 4:33 pm

I have acquired som kiln shelf’s . 2 shelf’s make a 28 inch octagon. I have 4. Will putting them on the reverse flow plate help hold temperature. Or should I use it as a pizza stone on pit.

I would use them as a pizza stone, I don't think they'll benefit the BP in any way.

Try it for pizza or line your firebox maybe. Agree with big t that it doesn’t have much appeal for use in the cook chamber.

I was figuring it would help hold heat longer in cooking chamber. I had 2 in firebox then pulled them out and it seems to work better without them there.

I’ve seen some write ups indicating the sizing calculators take CC heat loss into account to some extent in the output recommendations. I wonder if adding them to the CC might result in difficulty in keeping your temps down in the smoking range.
