30 by 48 Patio Reverse flow build with one endbell left on

Post by Frank_Cox » August 18th, 2012, 1:00 pm

Had to crank this one out real quick and in a hurry last week. Did the blasting and tank cutting one Saturday mornin then did the firebox and a few other things the next Saturday and finished it up this last week. Still waiting on the Hickory lumber for the bottom shelf. I should have that by Monday ish... :welder:

here is the tank we started with. it is 30" diameter by 170" ish long. Dcman and I cutt'er down to size. should have enough for a couple more builds outta it!
20120714_124521.jpg
filled with water and cut the first notch to drain the tank

Dcman's Opinion.... just couldn't resist...

"The Blaster" was scheduled to come over the next Saturday so while I was at it we prepped another tank for another build coming up in the next few weeks. this one is a 460 pound DOT approved cylinder. it is 30x43

NOTE: you should use a Metabo instead of a Dewalt grinder with these cutting wheels. Thanks for the tip TQ!

That 30x43 would make a wicked little vertical unit. I have always liked that squatty look. hmmm ... :D evidently I can relate to the dimensions. fat humor .. only appropriate when cracking on ones self.

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

Man that is exactly what I had envisioned. Before I decided to go with a full blown trailer build that was what I was shopping for size wise (chuckwagon size). At the time I wasn't thinking vertical but now I can see the possibilities.

Painted it with the Quart Can Rustoleum 1200*F Satin Black Paint thinned 5% with acetone sprayed with the gravity feed gun

Nice job! It looks a whole lot more useful than the last time I saw it.
That might be record time for a shop build. :)

Love the ax handle handle. The quality and finish makes me want to build again and take my time and TRY to make a smoker that looks that nice. Great design and great job.

Usually more beers than smoke.
