Each step makes us want to do the next one even more. My hardest part, is forcing myself not to cut any corners as I get near the end. I have to remember I'll have to live with the way I finish it, because I wont want to change it latter. Your doing great keep going.

If you're like me you get a little time each day - so I try to get one thing done each day (2 if they're small) - at 5 a week and the big ones on the weekend it sure seems to come together quick that way... the thing about smokers is that the time we spend building 'em ain't even close to their life expectancy - so I keep telling myself to keep plugging cause my grand-kids will appreciate it...

Stand on, exhaust done, reverse flow plate fitted, FB door latch done and intake adjustment handle done! What a night so glad to start seeing it come together and get on its wheels.

First build here we go!!

Post by SOILhunter » October 19th, 2012, 6:56 am

Yep first one..hoping they only get bigger and better from here! I scored a full size tank yesterday for an awesome price, not sure on gallon size yet I just saw it sitting and knew I wanted it its a 250 or 500. I think a disco or a few are in play after this, something a little smaller and easier.

You got a keeper there!

...I once dated a girl that changed her own oil...

...and I like your re-purposed tank bottom/trash can :D :kewl:

Haha well now she wants to weld on the smoker...I let her a little but she just not at that level yet! I keep that tank bottom around for a butt can, I absolutely hate rod butts scattered all over the floor, it ends catching about everything but I dont have to worry about it if it catches fire.

I bet you don't have to worry about it blowing away either!

Remember: Go ahead and let her weld but teach her how to grind off her own mistakes. THAT will improve her technique quicker than anything....

At least that's what my instructor did to me - it worked too... :)

:yth:

DC and Rick took the words right out of my mouth. I have "shop envy" and I believe the idea of teaching her to grind will teach her to be more carefull. Looks like a lot of fun, as for your coment about "over kill" SH well I just don't think that way, not that that isn't good thinking, but I do wind up with things that I can't pickup without a forklift. Your cooker is coming along nice.

Looking good Soil!
The better half will be welding in no time. Just think then you can just point and relax. :D

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.
