Love my center feed! You could plop a fb in the bottom and make it vertical, some type of cabinet smoker?

that was my thought a vertical cabinet. devide it about 16 inches from the bottom would make the fb the rite size by the calc. 4 feed hole with baffle plates.

Vertical would be my suggestion.

Usually more beers than smoke.

Looks like a vertical just waiting to puff smoke

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

Use a pellet drive to fire the unit like a Traeger.
Or build a charcoal chute and let it gravity feed.

Horizontal - Vertical ...
How about one at 45 degrees? I don't think anybody's done one like that yet... course maybe there's a reason for that ...

I'm kinda with DC on this one - center-feed RF's are cool - Edgar is one of those and his temps are as stable as a 3-legged milk stool. :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)

Not I on the steel, but looks like you got a nice start to a cooker. Cant beat the price for startup materials! :kewl:

If you make it vertical you could put alot of racks in that rascal. Put them tracks close together and have the option of smoking a ton of jerky or ribs or fish at a time. I like those types you can get really fancy with it too.

actually my ideas are along the lines of horizontal split in the middle with two FB and CC center fed. still plenty of rack space but with versatility and abjustable RF plate

You could sure run different temps and smoke at a comp with that rig - nice design!

I know there's a trick to flipping the spring under the axle that might buy you 4 inches or so by lowering the trailer ... :D

Rick is right, a quick flip of the springs will gain ya an easy 4" and you could buy "blocks" to drop another 2-4"

good idea except this trailer has coil springs. instead i am thinking about recessing the FB into the smoke chamber 3 inches below the RF plate with an 11 inch opening in the center top of the FB. thinking about addl plate between RF plate and FB

That could work. Edgar only has 2.5 inches clearance there but uses 2 deflector plates like you're suggesting and he works fine. By fine I mean he doesn't want to change from his happy place of about 275 with a typical fire. Calc your openings at every step as the hot air passes through there just to make sure you aren't choking it any and you should be okay.

That said - leave yourself a way to open up the intermediate plate with a hole saw etc. - that way you can "tune" it.

Remember: You can tune a BP but you can't tune a fish!

Sorry - I couldn't help myself... :D
