BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Okay, so for those of you wondering I work weekends and am off every Tuesday and Wednesday. That being said, I'm going to be cutting the hole in the tank for the exhaust pipe on Tuesday and I'm wondering what is the easiest way to layout the hole and cut it seeing as I dont have access to anything to cut metal with other than a 4 1/2" & 7" grinder, and an assortment of hole saws but none big enough for the 6" exhaust pipe.
So any tips to get me started on Tuesday?
I will return the favor with more smoker porn (aka. pics) thats what my wife jokes about cause I spend THAT MUCH TIME reading buld forums. I think I have a Problem, and this is how I'm currently seeking help.

Yep, I guess your not alone. I think I can relate to the problem.

I can't think of a safe and easy way to do that with those tools.

Look through some other builds. Cut it out square, then go square to round out the top of your adapter.

I have done them with a cut off wheel but would not suggest it. Didn't work that great.

It takes a while but I have also used the standard grinder wheels. Just hold the grinder at about a 30 degree angle and keep the leading edge just inside the marked circle.

Got some more work done on the smoker today, finally got the supports done and set the smoker onto the trailer.
Image
Then I started tacking and welding the firebox. I've seen it said in ALOT of other build threads however for those wondering THIS THING WEIGHS A TON.
I mean it's so big I literally completed several welds while sitting in the Firebox.

Yep, it looks like it should be just right. I mean really is a smoker ever really too big?

You know just thinking aloud here, and comletely off topic, but am I the only one that anytime I
post something about the size of anything, I try to rephrase what I'm about to say just to avoid the
whole "that's what she said" response?

Here I go again,
Image
That is not a trick, I did in fact fit my entire body into the firebox and welded it from the inside.
Now if you think it was strange fitting into the box with the five sides, that was nothing until I added the sixth side. The only way in and out was through the firebox door.

The cold wind kept the fresh air going and offset the heat being generated. I just had to have someone keep an eye out for grass fires.
