I'm not being a smart azz this time, .... Cardboard is your friend. Some of the math wizards are going to be able to give you a calculation to figure it out but the cardboard is pretty a pretty slick way to do it. Then you will also know if the chunk you cut is going to fit in the door opening.

If you have a cheap rotating laser level you can set it dead center of the tank and get a level line around the inside of the tank then just drop a half inch or so on one end and string line it. I picked up a cheapo rotating laser a few years back for like 30 bucks. Or you can wing it the old fashion way.

Your rig is really starting to take shape.

Question are you going to have more than 1 grate? Also are you going to put something on the rail to keep the grate from falling out? On the one I built I have a short piece of angle iron welded on the last 6-8in and it works great.

I thought about adding another grate on top. what do you think? also I have added angle to the top rail to keep the tray level, and from falling out. Thanks! What am i missing?

I would definitely add a second grate. You can always remove it when not in use. I assume you have a capped off then end of your baffle plate angle iron. If not, you will want to.

I'm with smokeone on puting in the 2nd grate, you will be really pissed with yourself later if you don't. And do put the cap on the end of the baffle plate.

does anyone know what a set up like this would go for? What if I added a fryer and a burner for a pot?
