I am planning to put four 5" holes near the bottom of the FB. Two on each side. then have a slider/damper on the outside to close them off. Using the calculator, that should work.
Is there any benefit of doing it any other way? opinions welcome.
I've seen folks use both sides, I just used the door which seems to pull the air through the fire into the CC. But I think either will work, this is a pick of my intake air vents. I can also load from the top of the FB, as I also included a pic of.
I'm sure your doing fine. Keep up the good work.

from what i have learned, air that comes in under the fire is much hotter than air that passes across the fire via door vents. Anwswer... put in both, close off what you don't want or need.
