I want to thank everyone for all the help. Without your replies and inputs I would have been wandering around lost. We cooked all summer and made the best bbq anyone we knew had ever tried! Here's the pics...

Don't you just love it when plan comes together? :kewl:

So what are you going to build for your next one? :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)

warming box for this one is next, but i hope to make it double as a cold smoker. We have another reverse flow requested, but we are looking for the right tank. Scrappers around here have really hurt our fun!

what type of readings do you get with your thermometers, having 1 over your BP opening and 1 right above the throat opening ? Do they show about the same temp or do they vary a little ? I was thinking about mounting mine in the same location but I see everyone has theirs in the doors.

It's hard to see but there is a damper between the fire box and the chamber. It remains open for the cooks, but it might make an accidental heat shield under the plate. We worried about what you are asking, so i made a thin sheet metal shield, and it made no difference.

The temps run great between end to end, I have an adjustable baffle plate in the end of the cooker, but it seems that raising and lowering the trailer jack has a bigger effect on temps. The thermos are 5" above the plate, same height as the grate. Wind is the only real factor that swings the temps badly.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.
