What kind of smoker is this classified as? - (prolly back fed center feed reverse flow - I guess?)
Will you be placing it on a rolling frame? - (Egor is getting an axle, lights and a towbar)
About how long is the width again? - (FB is 20 X 20 X 18 and CC is 20 X 40 X 22)
Will the door fold up or down? - (folds up with the help of a tool box lift strut or 2)
I remember your saying that the fire rope channel is painted so you can silicone it in? Does the rope ever peel out or lose grip from its mounting position and is a painted surface necessary for that to stay in place? - (No - just an easy way to rust-proof the steel up against the outside of the fire rope without getting any spray paint in the fire rope itself. This method has worked very well for me)
If this is NoT an RF design, does the pit calculator need to use a different set of calculations?" - (This was all done with the pit calc.)
As for a "rectangular" layout, the next one I'm building is this same cooker but as an end-fed - stay tuned, it might be closer to what you're thinking….

Great.....looking forward to it. My wife told me to go and buy a MIG and plasma cutter for my birthday coming up. This just screams " making it easier" to me. I love your design on the non-tank style cookers. Admittedly, the tank is like having a percentage of the work done already aside from the door but the appeal of the oven style is high to me
Very nice work!
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
Lining up the hinges….. if you look close you'll see a half a washer I set the door frame on to establish a gap at the top of the door to the jamb. My thinking is that the cabinet will get hotter and expand a little more than the door so the gap helps center the door over the opening so it has a little room to expand without binding. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it …. for now.
Welded and beaten into submission ….
Swings open…. even slid off easily too.

have you ever used the struts on a cooker before ? The ones that I have looked at all had a plastic bushing on the ball joints and I was just thinking about plastic vs heat.
I did this on Edgar but he was insulated. I'm hopeful this will work because the struts being mounted on the outside on brackets didn't even get warm on Edgar. These tool box struts seem to be all metal except the o-ring around the plunger…. we'll see …

You're right. The door isn't too bad to open/close without the struts so just a prop-rod would get me by. I just figured the weight of the door after a long cook weekend would get tiresome…. The real answer would be split it in two and side hinge them with a center post but that's another thread…

… and BigT I just noticed your comment …. these lift struts don't use ball/socket ends - they're just steel eyelets

2 grates later - showing bottom grate and 2/3 grate - probably the way I use it most often…
All 3 grates in and lift struts on - pretty easy to raise and lower now…
CC and FB ready for the trailer frame - tomorrow's project if I don't run out of C-25…
