Nothing scientific about HANDY.

I've tried several diameters in my different builds but 4" pipe is my favorite for lots of other reasons too. :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Handy and scientific are pretty much interchangeable in my book...

What is the best way to mount the rope gasket? If anyone has pictures illustrating this, I'd appreciate it.

most of us ues high temp RTV, lay a bead and stick the gasket to it, then use wax paper between the gasket and the other surface, so it dont glue the door shut

I've seen pictures where it looks like people used a strip of flat stock to screw the gasket to the door. That made me think the obvious, and simplest approach wasn't a good one. I'm glad it's that straight forward.

High temp RTV for sure. Works great.
I like the clear - slightly cheaper and seems to stick better.
Takes a full 36 hours in a heated shop to cure so don't rush it.
