Air inlet for warming cabinet

Post by bstory » April 2nd, 2014, 6:57 am

Is there a certain size of inlet for the warming cabinet to use?

Edgar's warming cabinet was a 20 inch cube and I had about a 4 X 5 inch opening front bottom and another one on the back of the cabinet at the top to allow natural cross ventilation. From there I could choke those off with magnetic sheets stuck to the inside over a portion of the opening to reach 140F. fwiw :D

Thanks gizmo, is that just the size you made them or did you calculate to get a specific square in number? My cabinet is 30x30x22 deep

I didn't calculate anything. I just figured I wanted a low inlet and a high outlet across the cabinet from each other to encourage natural convection and rising hot air, etc. I used small soffit vents from the hardware/lumber store. I just trimmed them down to fit where I wanted them - ROCKET SCIENCE! :D

I have a 24wX18dX40h cabinet, I have 6 - 2"x3" sliders on the bottom and a 5" round in the door. More inlets don't hurt if you can shut them off. Temperature control is everything!
