You must live in central south Texas to get that big of mesquite logs. Nice for some beef that's for sure

I grew up in Odessa I knew you weren't from west Texas. But there's no wood like that here in Orlando

So I have a question on this build.

I got a quote to sandblast and paint from a local shop......$500. That's not in my budget.

Today I took my orbital sander with 60 grit pads and it worked like a charm. I was planning on sanding down the whole smoker and trailer.

Then wiping down with acetone and spray painting with rustoleum high temp.

Does anyone see any issues with this?

High Temp is not required on a trailer so the same color and finish would save you some more money. But other than that no.

Mankussm,

When I painted my tank and trailer, it is exactly what I did. Since a good wipe down is reasonably quick and the black high heat Rustoleum was in the gun, it came out great. I did thin the paint a little. It says not to re-coat. I did on one spot and eventually it peeled a little. Re sanded a few months later when I was painting the gravity feed and repainted some black. Again, it came out great.

Now that I am adding the warming cabinet, I'll be doing it again this spring.

Thanks Puff. I dont have a paint gun. I was simply going to get a 3" roller and apply it. Then spray paint the trailer.

I did this on a boat repair once for the anti-skid simulation. Took a roller that was like a woven fiber and it left a texture on the surface that looked terrific. It was a special type of paint but it has held up to foot traffic for over 7 years now. Additionally, the high texture hides a ton of sins, so to speak

Good luck!

If that's a bottle opener on the end of your semi-auto handle bracket, that's genius! Looks great either way tho.

Did I miss something or is that an intentional placement of Texas on the end bell

Thanks man. I bought paint today. I am going to vacuum it out, wash, then burn it out!

Hit it one more time with a sander then paint.
