Just kidding, I've built 3 righty and 2 lefty...all work equally well. I have no real preference but my lefty firebox door swings open towards the rear so anytime I'm in front of the cooker, I'm set nicely to feed it wood.
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
Right side for me but I would build the other if the need was there. Like my back yard cooker, if I wanted it on the other end of my patio it would have been left side.
Making memories.
Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........
I built mine so the FB door swings toward the rear of the cooker. It was natural since I'm right handed but I was thinking I wanted to keep it away from the front to help prevent injury in case someone was standing there working. Safety first right... but it kinda scares me to do that for the left side FB and make it a true southpaw... Left side box, left side swing..Seems weird already. And what if I want to sell it one day.. Do you think it would be hard to sell with that southpaw set up.?
Loaded question since I never thought twice whether left or right ever meant anything to anyone. My thinking is....here's a smoker, you put the wood in here and the meat over there and the smoke comes out here.
On the other hand, RC and Big T are long time smokers and they could go crazy if you show them ... CrAzY !

Maybe it's because you are closer to the left coast? RC and Big T are nearer the east coast so the neurological wiring in the eastern brain dictates this. I lived in the extreme north and nearly extreme south so I'm ambidextrous.
If your right hand dominant, don't you find it easier to use the right hand in opening the latches?

Blue... I think they call that dyslexic( no guarantee on correct spelling).
Im a righty and It seems more natural to use my right hand to open the FB door, when I make the motion of using my left it feels funny. I guess I would get over it tho.
