Baffle is in and measures good at all points. So I asked the question in the Questions forum but here goes. My prints show the firebox top is one inch below the Baffle. Does this sound right? I mean it looks pretty clear, but I wanna check cause some part of my mind wants the Baffle and fb top level with each other.

I would keep it the same height as the BP. You could always put a dam on the bottom of the throat to make he numbers work.

If it's tourist season, how come I can't shoot 'em?

I like the one inch below, it gives you room for a shadow plate for the first 12 inches coming out of the FB. I've done that on my big rig both times I built the FB.

Making memories.

Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........

So Frank called. It's all cool. Now I have a question for some opinions about my baffle plate. It's 3x 3/32" plates plugged every 6". Seems almost indistinguishable from a solid plate. I'm beginning to think that may turn out being an asset. It should be thermally slower to transfer heat and longer on retention. If my 25+ year old college physics meant anything. Opinions?

I'm not sure if that dimension is correct. I hope not

A little update:
Got a 20ft Stratus Trailer
Image

Trying to determine the best placement. Decided to offset the cooker to the side and build a wood box behind it.
Image

Was going to use angle for my only braces but went and bought 20ft of C - channel to build braces that will be more than sufficient for the load. Here's the front:

And back:

And FB braces:

Getting there slowly:

Last pics until painting is finished!

Racks are finished!

A little seasoning test fire. Smoke stack reminded me of a locomotive pouring smoke. Really good flow!
Image

And of course it was blessed by the ghost of one Paul W Bryant - Roll Tide "A" in the initial flames!!!
Image

Just some odds and ends. Handles, dampers and mounting my grill on the front. I built my wood box and fire basket today.

Pleased so far! Thanks for all the help!!!

You may want to add a drip rail on the bottom of your doors to direct the grease down to the BP. It'll keep the grease from building up on the door gaskets and running down the front of your smoker.
