That was great. Was the warp in the door mainly from the sand blasting?

Thanks Higee!

Nah, I am thinking it warped a little from cutting it out initially, and a little misalignment when I welded the hinges on. The sandblasting didn't budge the 1/4" plate. I was afraid it was going to be all crazy when it got back from the blaster, but it was fine.

Did the blaster also coat in high temp primer for you?

No the blaster left it bare metal. I then sprayed it with three coats of rustoleum high temp in the quart.

Gotcha, looked like it was a gray primer that came back from the blaster.

Thanks!

Guys, I'm about to make this build. I've never worked a warming cabinet smoker and was wondering if I could use it for actual cooking when not in need of the main chamber. Does that make any sense? Sorry newbie here.

Welcome! I will be honest. I’ve never used it as a warming cabinet. It does get to a temp that you can cook at. It lately has kept right in step with the cook chamber.

If you are looking to build this set of plans I would increase the firebox slightly. Other than that it’s a fine build.

Great tip, about how much should I increase the firebox size? 20%?
