My cooking chamber will be 6 feet long, 28" tall, and 28" deep. From bottom of cooking chamber to baffle plate will be 4 inches. My firebox to CC opening would be 4" tall and as wide as the firebox. What do ya'll think about this? Haven't figured out the firebox dimensions yet because I don't know if you use below the baffle plate area in the calculations. Let me know

Oh, sorry, the entire smoker and firebox will be rectangle/square.

Yeah the area below the baffle plate is considered part of the cook chamber. The throat area should be what is suggested by the pit calc so it will probably be shorter than the 4" you've allowed below the BP. Is that 4" included in the CC height you've mentioned? :kewl:

Here are the numbers I got, that's given the 4" is included already, if not then your FB size will change. :kewl:

Yes sir, it is included in the 28" in height. Let me know what you think...I can always shorten the throat area if you suggest it would do better. Is the baffle plate area too tall..at 4"??? Thanks for your input

Well I had a play with the numbers in the pit calc & the best result I posted above, your FB should be 26x28x28 to give you a difference of 108% (which is right where you want it, between 105-110%). The throat area is saying 163.08sqin which, if my calculations are correct, makes the throat about 5.85" high. That means the BP will have to be at least 5.85" from the bottom of the CC. :kewl:

that makes since....any reason the baffle plate being that tall would cause any problems. thanks again
