FB intake question

Post by BillyR52 » April 18th, 2017, 6:39 pm

Planning out the door and intakes for my RF build. I have a question as to the intakes. I plan on these intake openings on the door and the sides. They measure 1 1/2 x 3 inches each. Any comments are welcome. Image

What are the rest of the dimensions of your smoker, CC, FB & stack diameter? With these measurements you can check the intakes with the pit calc. :kewl:

48 x 30. I still haven't figured out all the calculators. I don't know about the throat size yet or the chimney. Really learning as I go here. The FB is 24x24x24.

If your CC is a cylinder then the FB is 122% of the recommended size. If you can give us a little more info, someone will try to help you out.

:oopssign:

So this is the new guy in me coming out.
I am doing a cylinder yes, and this is what I know from the calcs
Chimney Vol. 691.20 in3
Throat Size 110.59 in2
FB intake 41.47 in2 (if i am doing my math properly I have 54 in2)

I am sorry if I am being ignorant in all this. If I am then let me have it :PBox:

The numbers that you have were based on the FB being too big. I would go with the numbers above and it should work great. I normally like a little longer chimney but if you put the shorter stack on top of a 30'' cylinder it should be plenty high enough to keep the smoke out of your eyes. Feel free to ask all the questions that you want to, that's what the forum is for.

I thought about it, but I work as a firefighter and paramedic. My schedule right now is 48 hours on and 24 off.
