Going to start my 250 Gallon Build

Post by nekramp » April 16th, 2018, 2:20 pm

Just a few questions, I'd like to be able to do full hogs or gators on my new build and I am wondering if I still could get a 70-100 pound hog in the smoker if I have two doors on the tank? Or should I put one door on it? Also what height should my exhaust be on a reverse flow? At the top, grate level or somewhere in between? Thanks

It looks like one door would be a massive door. You could build cabinet doors and then you could open one or both doors if needed. There was a build on here not too long ago where the guy had the same dilemma as you. He wanted 2 doors but he also wanted to be able to cook a whole hog occasionally. He built his with 2 doors with slide out grates and he built a solid grate behind the center section between the 2 doors. He designed the center section where it could be removed and he would have a solid grate the full length of the CC. I'll see if I can remember the thread that it was in and post a link. As for the stack placement, I mount it as high as possible on the end of the CC.

Agreed...1 door is ideal but would be pretty big on that tank. Could be done tho....just counter-weight it properly.

I think the cabinet door option is by far the best.

Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........
