No problem I don’t have many without meat on them but you can see the material.

I use mine all the time. Nice to be able to run 2 different temps as well.

I would definitely add an opening from the FB to WC, it gives you the option of cooking in the WC if you want to. The stack on top of the WC doesn't need to be very tall because the whole WC acts as a stack. Just make it long enough to keep any rain water from getting in and a damper on top and you'll be good.

How big should I make the opening from fb to wc , I’m going to make a sliding vent so it can close fully but not sure on size, it’ll be a rectangle shape

I've seen some air vents at the bottom with the idea that the cooler outside air can be used to lower chamber temps. I'm not sure the purpose for an additional top vent--the chimney takes care of exhaust. Maybe I'm missing something but I'd say no need. Built mine with a damper between the firebox/warmer box and one between the cook chamber/warmer box. No other vents except damper on chimney.

:yth: no need for them at the top if you already have a chimney.

The picture was upside down so I think some confusion is happening. I made my opening 6x6 it works great if you’re not insulating between the top of the FB and the bottom of the WC even smaller will work. The rectangle idea is good so you can keep the opening in the center. This way even if it is bigger than needed the damper can be closed some to get what you want.

I noticed the picture was upside down but he also asked if he should put vents in the top of the WC. Must have been fate... or a coincidence.
