About the paint. The UDS boys are using high temp paints with good success.
They have run at 300-350° and have reported NO problems.A lot of the guys even have STICKERS on the sides of theirs!
The best part is, you're not stuck with black! There are MANY colors to choose from, even anodized colors!
Well damn, where can I get some, you ask?
Glad you asked, I'll tell you where!
Any auto parts store. Its auto engine paint.
There's 2 manufacturers,Dupli color and VHT.
Most guys just spray it right on.
That's the bad part, it's rattle cans(spray cans). Which is a PITA to paint a large trailer mounted cooker.
But every Redneck knows a way around that. How, you ask? I'm glad you asked.Ill tell you!
VHT makes a high temp PRIMER,rated at 2,000°.
Once you use the primer you can use any paint,in any color you want!
Think candies, pearls, hell, even blue and orange (go GATORS).The possibilities are endless.

*Disclaimer-the author has NOT tried these techniques.Use at your own risk. And NEVER take advice from a Redneck.
Good luck folks.

Wow SHRN, you have opened the bottle to let out the suppressed creative colour genie in all smoker-builders....

Yeah, I never did like Henry Ford since he said "you can have any color you want,as long as it's black".
Tired of black...

That is the first time I saw his handle shortened up like that.

I bet the way DC and Roger get along DC can make use of that. LoL

No offense taken...just having fun.

Henry’s most important invention, in my opinion was the assembly line...and that is irrelevant to color or brand.

(I think I just stayed neutral there...lol)

Henry also played a big part in charcoal production. I knew that, but didn't know Thomas Edison actually designed his first plant in Michigan in a town that later became Kingsford. Who knew...

I'm not so sure. Yes the primer is high rated but that won't stop the heat transfer to the outer layers of paint.
