Out with the old suspension parts in with the new!
New shackles bushings and equalizer all mounted on 3” x 3” x 1/4” steel angle.
Also new handles for the CC.

Well all the welding is done, now time for some pretty bits! And on to working on the trailer.
Also pulled the hubs off the trailer to replace the bearings and races.
Added a piece of tube steel to hold the fire box to the trailer.

Looking great. I hope you don’t get any bend to your fb door. Not sure how much play is in the slots for your door pins but they may cause some pain if you get any bend at all with heat.

It was a quick slot just so the welder could put them on, good eyes. I’m going to file them out tomorrow .

Was able to get some trailer work in tonight. New support angle for suspension hangers, new wheel bearings, and a tube steel support to weld the firebox too.

That’s my favorite day. First burn. Figuring out the draft, split sizes, how many pieces, how often to add them … and about 30 Busch Lights.

Well I did a quick burn today to make sure it would flow and hold temp! Things went well, it fired right up and I took it up to 270 just to see and backed it down to 240 and I settled right in.now it’s time to scrape and sand frame and paint, sand blast fenders and paint . Then on to the shelf and door gaskets.

It was on the tank when I got it and it kinda gives it a neat look to me! I left the on the other end as well and used the pieces I cut off for the FB to hold logs on to of the FB.

Boiled Linseed Oil

So why Linseed oil instead of high temp paint?
Appearance?
Ease of maintenance?
Or other reasons?

And where do you buy it, hardware or grocery?
Is it boiled before purchase?
What if you can't find it boiled? How does it differ for you to make the choice of boiled?

I never heard of it's use on a grill till I joined this forum.

I never heard of it's use on a grill till I joined this forum.

BLO is an old timey coating for steel, to stop rust. It's also used to finish wood. I guess the main reason to use it is for a rustic appearance, rather than a fancy looking paint job. It comes already boiled, you can buy it at most any hardware store, and it's cheap. It is easy to maintain, but one drawback is it has a tendency to yellow over time.

Ya that.

Boiled helps it harden faster. Stuff is awesome. Apply once a year and it looks great and stays rust free.

And by the way, I love the rings. Keeps some history of where the tank came from. You could pop some holes on the end ring and hang your tools off of it.
