If the 17 sets the height of the BP correctly then that's a good number - sounds a little too small to me but if you measured it it'll be fine.

Leaving a 5 inch BP gap is huge for that size cooker. That would be an 85 sq. inch gap - what's your throat area going to be?

Then again as you say - you can "tune" it with scrap then weld the tuning plate in later…. :kewl:

Wow, ok 5" might be a bit much.... Just found my calculator results and it recommends 47.75 sq in. So, about 2.8" gap is what it's calling for. I'm glad I haven't cut it off yet...

The square stack is a winner. Clearly you have welding and cutting skills. My 6" round was a problem for me to cut properly so I was happy to discover the stack elbow from Gizmo. I really think it has a streamlined look to it ... Nice clean looking job . My 275 oval oil tank gap is about 4.5"

Check that.... Old calculator results.... The correct results are 31.77sq in. Which gives me 1.8" so there you have it.

Got some more done today. I was only able to get a picture of the grate before my phone decided it was too cold and took a little nap. So here it is, I'll try and get some pics of the rest of my progress tomorrow when the sun is up.

No sir, regular ol' mild steel. It just looks that way in the photo.

Nice handle and spring. The spring reminds me of car or truck valve springs which I have thought about using for handle springs.

That spring is from an 80 ton hydraulic punch press I used to repair. It's the return spring on the punch jig. We "threw them any" over 5 years ago and I always knew I'd need them for something. It works pretty well for this. I'm excited to show you guys the CC handle, same style spring, but about 8-10" long. Should look pretty cool when it's done.

Being sick sucks! I've been running a fever since Wed due to a dang sinus infection..... Finally felt a little better today and tried to go out and piddle a bit and it hit me again... I want it to be done in time so I can cook for Christmas, but at this rate who knows... Anyway, glad to see some of the other guys making progress over Thanksgiving.

Hate to hear you have been sick. Those sinus infections are murder and hard to get rid of.

I checked it out but there are no prices listed. Just to call for a price. Do you have any idea what were looking at per foot. I'm at work and can't call. Thanks
