CRS, I just saw an 80 gal compressor tank on Craigslist in Plymouth for $100. That's a little big for what I want for a patio and too small for a trailer or I'd nab it up.
Just thought I'd let you know.

I like that kind of thinking! Gizmo started my thinking along those lines. I'm building an 80 gallon because I have it...free too.

I about had a melt down the other day on the way to work. Right as I was exiting, I saw a truck (unmarked) pulling a trailer with a 250 gal in with "SCRAP" spray painted on the side of it.
Edit- For those who don't know, it's basically impossible to find one up in these parts (MN).

I saw over 100 of these tanks sitting in a local scrap yard.

Do they sell them, though?
I would have been willing to give the guy a lot more than the scrap yard would.

Nice looking rig... What is the purpose of the dampers in the warming cabinet? I know one is to control the flow from the firebox below to adjust the heat, what is the other for?

Might have to upgrade to some of those low profile trailer tires 6 or 8 ply should do it.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Puff, the dual dampers will allow for the warming cabinet to be use as just that or it can be used for hot and fast while the main CC is low and slow. This is going to be the perfect cooker for competitions.
Yes the tires look a little small but they work well. Stay tuned as it soon will be a tandem axle moving them back under the FB.

OK, I get the lower damper in the photo. Its from FB to warming cabinet. It allows heat directly from FB to enter the warming cabinet. I'm totally stealing that idea.

What I still don't understand in the photo is why you need to then have another going to your CC. Did you not vent it above your warming cabinet? Wouldn't that bring extra heat and affect the draw on your CC?

The vents serve dual purpose. The one from the FB is for more direct heat (hotter) for cooking at a higher temp. The one from the CC is for low temps for doing things like Bacon or even ribs. Trust me, it's the only way to build it.

Every day I modify my design to impliment a new element. I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but here I sit dumb-founded.

Welcome to the world of pit design and building. I have built ton's of pits and everyone is a little improved over the next. This one is for "me" and won't be for sale. It will have many extra's that are geared for competition cooking.
