Alright! So close to being done, only needs to be painted.
Started off this weekend by grinding off that enormous annoying spiral weld on the front of the door
Took about 45min with the 7inch grinder
Thought all those axe handles were a cool idea so decided on that for the handle
Bottom rack done
Shelf in, can already tell we don't like the wood. Probably going to make something out of aluminum diamond plate.
Wow, it's actually done only took a year and a half, lol. Going to paint tomorrow...in the mean time...
Got a chimney full of lump going
First fire!! woohoo! Threw in some almond wood and cranked it up to 400F. Wipe the whole inside down with oil and let it go for 4hrs.
After it was seasoned threw on a pan of chicken thighs, why waste the heat
mmmmmm
Thing works outstanding, even with the warps in the door that we haven't put gasket on yet I was putting a split on every hour or so and kept steady at 275. Was getting nothing but clean heat out of the stack too, first time using a horizontal smoker.
Thanks for all the help and info on these forums. The calculator rules.
Maybe a good sized toggle clamp for each end of the door. And some folks burn white wood a little here and there, it gives it a cool look. Not that it needs any help, rather because you said you didn't like it. Good work!!!
Making memories.
Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........
Had some more que practice on it today, going to be cooking for a crowd this weekend so I figured better be learned up
pork loin and some corn, smoke ring went right through to the middle on some slices! Never had that before, wood fire thing I guess?
My dad and I were discussing today about things we'd do different and how it would be great with no door warp. We ended up deciding to build another one to get it "perfect". Is this how it starts? LOL
