Re: Silicone gaskets

Anybody have opinions on silicone gaskets? Not RTV type stuff in a tube but sheets. I came across this website and sent them an email for more information but I was also wanting to learn whether anyone had good or bad experiences with this material.

That sounds looks cool, do you just cut the ring out yourself or would you use strips?

& RC, you don't know the half of it, it's definitely a whole other world down under. The every day language here is mostly made up of slang words, here's another couple of crackers for ya, smoko, arvo, servo, sunnies & budgie smugglers =))

I don't have any experience with this material. I wonder how much crush it allows? I say that because after all the idea it the gasket takes up the space where the flanges don't touch and where they do must crush so the gasket can do the job.

Making memories.

Silicone sheets sound a bit hi tec and expensive for a smoker...but I have no experience. Let us know what you find tho, it could be great stuff.

How to they stick on? What temp do they melt? How hard to replace? Do they age well without drying out? How well do they compress?

Don't overthink this.....a smoker is just a big tank with a fire in it. We try to make it useful, fun and efficient along the way.
