I knock off the big pieces and leave all the rest. My tube smoker holds a lot of heat and I will hit it with the garden hose and blast out the big gunk and let it steam dry. I am of the opinion scrape the big stuff off, and when I pre heating the smoker it is steralising it each time. What’s your thoughts. Seems a lot of effort if you need to take it back to shiny metal.
