I would also say move the axle as far back as you can. Not only for the weight but for clearence the FB may hit the ground if you get in a dip or something. But as for tongue weight, it is better to have some than not, so the trailer follows without swaying. That isn't opinion it is experience, my first driver's licence was for a semi 34 years ago.

i already moved it up to the jack i really dont have much more room
without changing the jack and hitch. i might have to redo the whole
tounge.any help would be appreciated.as for clearence on the FB
im gonna have to raise it up by makin the cradle higher. plus im thinking
of flipping the axle. also do you guys think 11" is too close for the FB to be
near the tires?
WARNING!!!
My rubs and sauces have been tested on animals!!
Hey Jay,
I don't think you havbe to move the cooker, just cut the spring hangers loose and move the axle back and weld them right back on. This way you can leave the jack alone and it will act as if you moved it forward. I would still raise it just a bit to clear the road, for safety sake. As for the 11 inches you can always put plate on the back side of your finders and it will act as a heat deflector like your car has on spark plug wires. my 2 cents.

That's lookin' good!
Rodcrafter has an excellent idea in that heat shield ... it'll stop even more heat if you mount it on standoffs too ... in fact you could accomplish both if you attached the heat shield with magnets just when you are using it and store it inside the rest of the time...

Really like this build a lot. I have a very similar tank. Mine is 24" diameter by 96" long endbell to endbell. There is a stamp on it, that it's made by Beuhler Tank and Welding Works in Los Angeles, CA. Says its 150 gallon capacity. I thought it was a bit too long and just today I was about to cut it and shorten it down... I don't think I want to after seeing yours... It looks great.
Here's the stamp on my tank (see the part where it says Shell: 5/16" )
