Got a little more done yesterday. Hope to get more done today - god willing and the creek don't rise….
Neighbor commented about the hinges so I thought I would throw in a couple pics. They are so easy and cheap. Just pieces of strap cut at 45's and drilled and bolted together across the hinge line and welded….. then again maybe everybody uses these and I hadn't noticed….
Assembled:
Pivot bolts removed:
Finished and attached the firebox, stack elbow, and floor patches (not visible) where it had rusted thru. No wonder this tank was free.
Now, patio wheels or trailer….? Hmmmmm …..

This is terrific , I love the hinges and I have a question I have run into....how will you lift this partially completed project onto a trailer should you decide to use one or attach the wheels ? Mine is getting a bit out of central heavy so I have started building other parts of it for a little while.
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
Puff I figure that if I strip it down - doors lift off, BP is removable, grate, fire basket, etc. Then I can set it off on my trailer to get it outside and do the test burns. I'm also a fan of wood supports while I weld the legs/sheels under him. Pretty short hop from there.
CRS I HATE buying something I just can't find in my shop.
So I keep it clean - if it isn't where it belongs then I'm out of it….

Gizmo, I see in some of the pictures that this method of attaching the stack is a really great look? How does it affect the calculation of length, I ASSUME it does not change that but I assume very little any more ?
Also, do you weld in this space? Sparks flying on the floor? I ask only because I set my left cotton grinding glove on fire and burned a 3" hole in my bib overalls, chest level. My glasses fall thru the pocket now!

Big T and Puff I just thought it would look different and keep critters and birds out since I'm going to leave this one outside.
It will also hold up the rain cap (not installed yet). The perf portion of the pipe is NOT a part of the stack length - just put it on that way for appearance … and Puff it seams like the sparks aren't hurting the floor enough to worry. I have to power scrub it every couple years to keep it nice then reseal it.
Blame away R/C!

Nice work Rick! That thing is gonna look sweet on the patio.
"If its not in its place, I must be out of it", I guess that's why I have three of most things.
BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.
