The smoker is coming along nicely and that's a sweet little Chevy you've got there.

Got it done(cept for paint) and mounted on the trailer!!!
Also had the 1st cookin it.Only 5racks of ribs, but they turned out pretty good.
I never cooked on a REAL RF before and I gotta say,I'm impressed.
That 1/4 " baffle plate held temps better than I thought it would.
Infra red temp gauge read 517 degrees at the BP at wide open throttle during 1st burn.
Didn't know what the temp was during cook, but could tell it was around 300 degrees by how quick the meat was cooking.
It was done at 2 hours in but left it on another 30 minutes.Big mistake.Started to burn.Good thing BBQ sauce covers that up,LOL.Only got 1-2 pics of the Q,but, here's some of the tank.
My (undersized)5"od square air intake/clean out.

BP almost ready to weld in(did it in 2 pieces.I'm working alone and thought I could best handle it in 2 pieces).
Course I gotta get a nod to the people who helped me along.THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE GUIDANCE!!!

Was shooting for BP opening to be 66%of FB to CC opening.BP is 22" wide. Was going to make BP 3" off end of bell theoretically giving me 66sq inches. But it's a bell end,not a flat end,so I increased the opening to 4" in hopes ofcoming close to the numbers I needed.Seems to work so far...

What a PITA to use a 3" cutting tool.I'd kill to have a plasma cutter and such...

Had two 7 1/4" discs CNC Plasma table cut, along with a few other pieces.Used one to cover up the bung holes and the other fit nicely as a rain cap for my 5"id smoke stack.

Got the slide in/out rack built and installed.Because this particular tank has only 1 seam right down the middle,I was able to cut my doors at 52 1/2" wide. And even though I'm 6'2" 255lbs,THESE DOORS ARE HEAVY!
Gotta figure some way to lighten them.Don't really wanna use counter weights, but will as a last resort.

Got'er done and welded.Placement of stack was determined by a few variables(door, proximity to end of tank, lifting handle, the one you attach a chain to,in the way.remember, this smoker is bolted to trailer for easy removal.also still need to put flooring on trailer and paint.)

When I cut the FB off the tank with MY 3" CUTTING WHEEL,grrr,I guess it wasn't the straightest of cuts.
Had to use the same strap,1 1/4"x 1/8" that was used for the doors,to help close the gap,to keep most of the heat from escaping.

Only got 4 pictures that day.Between this smoker, the beer can chicken grill,Talladega on the TV and my good Buddy Weiser, that's all I could muster.Sorry.

Got the trailer tagged today.
Listen to this.
Walked into DMV with a certified weight slip,my drivers license and $38 and change.
13 minutes later, I walked out the door with a tag for a homebuilt trailer!
Here in Floriduh,if ANY trailer is under 2,000lb.s,you don't need a title,only a tag.Homebuilt or store bought.
Couldn't believe it.Image

Did a little cook for my boss and coworkers for putting up with me during this build.
5 racks of ribs,10lb.s leg quarters, pack of 4 legs-4 thighs-4wings,pack of 5 boneless/skinless breasts and 20 ABT's fit snugly on the bottom rack while 16 ears of corn, soaked overnight in sugar water and cooked in its husks rounded out the top rack.
Sorry,didn't get any "after" pics.Image
