Was able to etch in a few more hours inbetween work and school today mainly just sanding rust from the inside the CC and cutting out the plate Oiling everything up that will be covered for seasoning.

With my rack being made out of 1" sq tubing that will put the Plate close to 4" from the rack

I haven't disappeared guys! Just been busy with work and then side jobs, and then one more month of classes so everything is crunch time. I did weld the BP down and cut another section so the opening is approx the same size as the throat. it may be just slightly larger. I've read that that's OK.. I think.
I did tac weld plate steel to the end of the CC chamber and marked and cut out where the FB will butt up too it. I'm sure the marks and cut outs are correct just cant get the FB aligned and level to tac it in place. well I cant with just me. Wasn't really enough to take pictures of.

Lol....I had a hoist, floor jack, and a ratchet strap all going at the same time and it was still almost too much for me to get mine level by myself. Without a hoist, I'd be asking for a few neighbors to come over.

I think I might get my buddy to bring over his engine hoist over, all it will cost is a six of BlueMoon, he can have them. That is if I can finish my side job this weekend early...

I have a few quick question, on the Chimney using the SB Calc for a 4" ID pipe I need 56.98" (57") 75.69 in³ I am planing Dual Chimney's with a box on the end of the CC to mount it to.
A) Dual Chimney length = (57/2)?

B) The cut out for the Chimneys sq in opening to the Cooking Chamber will be crucial? In my mind it will be smaller then the
throat sq" of 115 sq.in but larger than the combined sq in of the two chimneys.

C) The Box is going to be at least 4" tall 5" deep and 10-12" wide cut in the CC at a location as high up but maintain 1" of
steel parameter. Should this height be included with my assumed chimney length of 28.5" ie. 24.5" pipe 4" of box or would
it be better to subtract the volume of the mounting box from the total volume of Chimney space and get my height that
way.

A.) You can cut the length in half when using 2 pieces of pipe, so 28.5" is all you need. The cubic inches that make up the volume are the key.

B.) The square inches of the cut for the stack doesn't have to match anything else. It just can't be smaller than the size of the pipe(s) so that it doesn't restrict air flow.

C.) That box really becomes more a part of the CC volume. When the stacks go up that is when the numbers count for stack length.

I like to make my stacks high enough to keep the smoke out of my eyes, I'll get enough of that part from opening the doors.

Finally got enough done to do an update. working, school, and not to mention it seems Texas has had more rain in the past few weeks then it has in a few years.

I got the FB mounted to the CC damn near as level as possible or as much as I care to get it. Then I had to grind down the back plate to match the CC

Once I had it mounted I fab'd up the baffle for the Warming Cabnet. (Thanks to Mack) kinda stole that idea

After that I set out to get the door on which had warped over time. took me a while to dig up BigT's method to getting it back in sync. Funny story after about 2 hours of tweaking and getting it perfect after I mounted the hinges and let it sit a few days the steel stretched again so now there are slight gaps...

Something about the door open is a little off I think its the axis for the hinges, however it will hold smoke and opens fine so I'm happy.

Now that I have the Door complete I got started on the Exhaust Box and Cut-Out
The Measurement for the box started with 2- 5X5" squares and a rectangle top 5X11." That parts the important part for my Smoke Stacks are going to be 4.5" OD with a 4" Diameter 27.5" tall. I was quoted for used pipe $4.5 a foot and $6 to cut I'll buy 6' and make the 27.5" cuts at home with a grinding wheel. Hell I'd do it there if they'd let me

Next got a little work on the lower Rack holder

I'll probably knock out the racks tommorow and build the grills as well. I'll Pick up the exhaust stack some time this week and work on the FB door mounting. Looks like It will be ready for fire (- WC) this weekend
I can dream though.

Also the 27.5" exhaust will put it just about 4" above my head I'm 5'8" so the top height will be roughly 6' That is surely low enough to put on a trailer and not hit any over passes

Still plagued with rain. I was however able to get quite a bit done in-between the rain and an engine swap in my F-150
Working on hoops for warming cabinet and just the over all assembly of it... has my mind thinking. RC idea is sure looking like the easiest one now that i can weld a lot better, also found an infinite supply of 1" sq tubing for dirt cheap.
as always the pictures!

Its come a long ways.
