First run after work last night. Ran really well for a first try. Just ran it wide open to cure everything and see how fast she will go.

10 minutes after start up.

Main Chamber 50 min.

Main Chamber after 50 minutes
Oven / Vertical 50 min.

Oven / Vertical after 50 minutes

Oven / Vertical got to 470 at the peek but I only used 12-15 lbs of kingsford blue bag for the test of the oven, two hours later it was still over 370 .

The main chamber got to 370-380 and held for the same amount of time above 300 for two maybe two and a half hours.

Once they cooled off I loaded the large box up with more charcoal and re light her. Cooked a pork butt overnight sorry for no q view the phone was out of battery power and the charger was at the girlfriends house.....The butt smelled a little too smokey this morning at 6:30 when I took them out for dad to finish in the oven, I think I over loaded the coal box because the fire churned slow for too long in the beginning. Lesson learned time to try again .

Planning another cook tonight maybe run her hot and smoke a top round or something like that just to see what it takes to get a good clean burn.

Looks like you got the problem surrounded. O:-)

Envious - the most fun part of this hobby - getting acquainted with a new smoker ….

Keep us posted through the process … :D

This rig works great! I have run it 3 times now and learned more each time. Last night I used the BBQ guru control again to get more acquainted with it and the pit.

Love the Guru for sure.

Smoked a eye of the round because they were on sale and I knew I could do a short hotter cook with it.

Came out pretty good.

Now onto a whole hog this weekend! Talk about jumping into the fire!

Have lots of updates on the cooker and the controler to put together for you guys but here is a view of the first pig roast in the new rig.

It was a wedding reception for 150 people.

200 lb Whole hog
2 15 lb turkeys
BBQ beans
Mac n Cheese (5 cheese)
Country style green beans
Cole Slaw
Potato Salad
Green Salad
Corn bread

Pig and turkeys about two hours before done...

Came back from Vacation and cooked an other Pig this weekend. 87 pounder Split it in half and seasoned overnight.

Figured the split would let me cut the cooking time, and I was with in 30minutes on the "new" cooking time. 6 and 1/2 hours over all.

Let it rest for an hour before service..

Getting the process zeroed in quite well........

Well the low cost trailer got me though the first few events that I had booked this winter/ spring before the smoker was finished. But the lite duty cross members were bowing more and more with each mile I towed the trailer.

So I picked up my own welder and Plasma cutter combo from Eastwood to help me fix the trailer and to speed up building the rest of the equipment I have planned for the trailer I used to have to drive 35 min each way to work on the smoker because the welder was at the race shop I used to work out of since it was the teams welder it had to stay there. Here is the welder
IMG-20130806-00105.jpg

I did not have enough cash to buy a tank of shield gas so I picked up some flux core wire and put in the new cross members in the trailer. I have to say so far I like the welder and for the first time using flux core wire I was able to do some good beads with it.

While I was working on the trailer the smoker looked a little lonely So I did up a Boston Butt and a Brisket while I was welding.

Finished Boston Butt

Finished Brisket.

Both came out great!
