It’s getting even closer to ready, l added 2 3/8” holes with bolts to plug them for my temp probes and a shelf for the unit to sit on, a little bit more on the undercarriage some cleaning mounting and painting. I am planning to box in 3 sides of the cart and stain it the same color of the pergola I finished this summer and keep it under it.
Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.
Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. Henry Ford
I lit her for the first time today and the results are pleasing after about 30 min it hit 250* and stayed steady for the first hour between the two gushes there was only about 2-5* differences if it will burn like this with splits it’s going to be good but Frank assured me it will change and I will have to learn to drive her
That's awesome Different conditions do change the way that it runs but like you said, once you learn to drive it you can do what ever you want it to do.
Im thinking about the addition of a warming cabinet, I already have most of a sheet of 3/16 plate is that going to be okay and how would I need to make the door so that it will seal and what are the advantages of having an opening from the fire box with a damper over just radiant heat? just trying to find out before I paint it.
3/16'' would work for the WC. You can look at Mack that Frank built you can see how he framed the opening with angle iron and the door as well and used flat gasket to seal the opening. If you have an opening from the FB you can open the damper between them and cook at any temperature that you want but if you don't have an opening you'll have to rely on radiant heat and it'll just be used for keeping things warm. If you go with a WC you'll need a vent on it so you can regulate the temperature if it starts to get too hot. If you are considering a WC I would add an opening from the CC and an opening from the FB with dampers over both openings and a chimney on the WC, you'll have a ton of cooking space if you ever needed it.
Its another control is about all. It allows you to use it a little different. But it isn’t required, I didn’t put one in mine. I don’t think I can get it more versatile than it is now really.
Making memories!
