I tacked some nails to the firebox walls to help hold up the ceramic wool during the install. Worked well.

Way to go. :kewl:

I used that nail method on mine...it’s appears to still be holding.

The firebox is all insulated. I added an opening on the top so I can add a warming box if I want in the future. I am down to little things like latches and handles and paint. Close to a test fire!!!

Hate to be a kill joy, but I found the latches and detail work to take a crazy amount to time. Looks good tho.

:yth: details seem to take longer than the build...

Almost done with the build! Got the ash pan done and latches are ready to mount. I just need to install the gasket on the doors and finish the dampers on the chimneys and paint!

Highly recommend cooking on it 6-8 times before you paint it. It’s easier to adjust your metal work if needed before paint. I, for one, am still making small adjustments and additions to my pit—-even after 3 years of it being ‘finished.’ I am getting super close now tho....just a few more mounting brackets.

Good advice, I won’t have much time for tweaks Becca we are trying to open June 1 but I will get some cooks in for sure.
