I have to recommend Valspar High Heat or Valspar Wood Stove available at Lowes or Tractor Supply if you are planning on using rattle cans
Note: Yes I am a Valspar Employee, but this is damn fine paint :kewl:

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

I honestly played with all the different brands of high-heat black spit cans out there over the past few years. Valspar has the best looking and most even finish of all of them.

One question Solo - What really is the difference between High-Heat and WoodStove ?

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Probably just a marketing ploy to specifically appeal to the perceived uses. I really cannot answer with true authority as that is a different division. The paint I work with is designed for food containers. My plant makes the paint that lines cans so that food and metal do not touch. So, next time you are enjoying a cold beer from a can or a can of soup odds are I tested the paint before it was shipped off to be put on the metal. Nowadays you really can't walk down a grocery aisle without seeing our products but folks don't even think about such stuff. The Birmingham plant effects about 65% of the canned groceries and beverages packed in the US. OK, sorry for the drawn out non-answer :D

is that the same stuff I told you about? if so that is why it is Black! I got the PPG stuff and they tinted it French Metallic Blue for me. it stays on great, just turns color if the temp goes over 800*F see the last pics in This Thread...

PPG Pitt-Therm is my preferred paint for cookers. When you use it with an inorganic Zinc primer it is a very durable product. It comes in White, gray and black.
You will not find it at just any old PPG home store as it is an industrial coating.

You can also use Flame control, it can be mixed in different colors. Keep in mind that black and silver offer the best protection some colors will lose their heat rating.

I hope this helps. :)
